and other youth empowerment programs
Africa Young Empowerment Programme (AYEPO) is a non-governmental organisation in Kenya registered under section 10 of the NGO coordination act (OP.218/051/16-204/10445).
At Ayepo, we live by the saying ‘Mental Health is Key’ and ‘prevention is better than cure.’ We run youth awareness campaigns in schools, youth groups, football clubs, churches and other youth forums, through our qualified psychological counselors, mentors and testimonials through educating the youths on mental health awareness in relation to many underlying factors including drug and substance abuse for example alcohol, the dangers of over indulging plus the risks and complications of addiction. We also offer HIV/AIDS education, sexual abstinence and safe sex training thus advising them on the importance of engaging themselves in positive practices in life.
Youth empowerment at Ayepo focuses on training and encouraging the youth to be mentally healthy as they take the responsibility of their lives and make the right decisions that will change their lives. We aim to achieve this by giving the youth life skills and creating opportunities for youth to participate in youth empowerment programs; from leadership, self-esteem, goals setting, assertiveness, IT training, business etiquette, entrepreneurship, just to name a few. We go beyond just the learning of formal rights and responsibilities, youth agendas and politics to give the young people practical skills they need to take the first step towards the achievement of the dreams.
We seek to work with other youth empowerment programs and non-profit organizations, schools or private organizations and government institutions and organizations to see to it that we create mental health awareness which in return helps the youths achieve tangible results and improve the quality of their lives.
